The residency program is aimed at training an orthodontist capable of preventing, diagnosing and treating dento-mandibular anomalies in patients of all ages. The program focuses on clinical reasoning, an interdisciplinary approach, and the application of modern orthodontic techniques. Key areas of training include: Diagnosis and correction of bite with bracket systems, mouthguards and functional appliances; participation in complex dental and speech therapy rehabilitation; treatment of temporomandibular joint pathologies; prevention of dento-mandibular anomalies in children and adolescents.

What will I study?
The educational process in the residency in the speciality ‘Orthodontics’ is carried out during 2 years. During the 1st year, residents study the age features of the development of the dentoalveolar system, etiopathogenesis of dentoalveolar anomalies, periods of bite formation, classifications of dentoalveolar anomalies, principles of biomechanics of tooth movement in orthodontic treatment, varieties of orthodontic appliances for prevention and treatment of dento-mandibular-facial anomalies, basic approaches and modern methods of examination of patients with bite pathologies, as well as the basics of medical deontology and professional ethics in the practice of an orthodontist. In the 2nd year residents study approaches and modern possibilities of hardware method of treatment of dento-mandibular-facial anomalies in different age periods of development of dento-mandibular-facial system taking into account the principles of evidence-based medicine at the outpatient-polyclinic stage of observation and treatment, features of interaction between doctors of different specialities in the treatment of patients with dento-mandibular anomalies, as well as features of retention period in orthodontic treatment.
