The residency is aimed at training a specialist in the field of functional diagnostics, able to conduct a comprehensive assessment of the state of human organs and systems using non-invasive and instrumental methods of investigation for the purpose of early detection of diseases, monitoring the effectiveness of treatment and assessment of prognosis. The program is focused on the formation of professional competencies necessary to ensure the continuity of the diagnostic process, prevention of complications and support clinical decision-making within the framework of primary, specialized and emergency medical care. Key areas of training include: Cardiovascular diagnosis: performing electrocardiography (ECG), daily Holter monitoring of ECG and blood pressure, stress tests (bicycle ergometry, treadmill test), echocardiography, Doppler imaging of main and peripheral vessels, cardiopulmonary testing. Respiratory function assessment: performing external respiratory studies, including spirometry and bodiplasmography, and interpreting results in the clinical context. Examination of the nervous system: performing electroencephalography (EEG), electromyography (EMG), and other neurophysiological diagnostic techniques to clarify the nature and localization of neurological disorders. Providing emergency diagnostics: participation in the provision of medical care in emergency situations, application of functional methods for rapid assessment of vital functions and diagnosis of acute conditions. Quality control and documentation: adherence to methodological standards in conducting examinations, participation in internal quality control programs, drawing up medical reports.

What will I study?
During the training in the residency on speciality 31.08.12 Functional diagnostics the learner gets skills: 1) research and evaluation of the state of external respiratory function: spirometry, research of unprovoked respiratory volumes and flows, bodyplethysmography, research of lung diffusion capacity, evaluation of elastic properties of the respiratory apparatus, test with dilution of indicator gas, methods of gas washout, capnometry, pulse oximetry, pulse oscillometry, research of provoked respiratory volumes and flows, research of respiratory volumes and flows with the use of drugs, research of respiratory apparatus 2) studies and evaluation of the cardiovascular system function: electrocardiography (hereinafter - ECG) with registration of main and additional leads, ECG in the presence of implanted antiarrhythmic devices, long-term ECG monitoring by Holter, long-term monitoring of blood pressure, polyfunctional (cardiorespiratory) monitoring, echocardiography (transthoracic, transesophageal, loading), ultrasound examination of vessels, assessment of elastic properties of the vascular wall, assessment of the functional state of the cardiovascular system at rest and when using functional and stress tests in accordance with the current procedures for the provision of medical care, clinical recommendations (treatment protocols) on the provision of medical care, taking into account the standards of medical care; 3) research and evaluation of the nervous system function: electroencephalography (hereinafter - EEG), electromyography; 4) carrying out and monitoring the effectiveness of measures to prevent and promote healthy lifestyles and hygiene education of the population; 5) analysing medical and statistical information, keeping medical records, organising the activities of the medical staff at the disposal of the patient; 6) Providing medical care in emergency form. Training in the residency is completed by passing the State final attestation, followed by the primary specialised accreditation of the specialist for admission to professional activity. Employees of the department carry out direct preparation for the practice-oriented stage of the accreditation examination on the basis of the methodological centre of accreditation.
