3.3.4 Toxicology

Theoretical toxicology. The section of toxicology that solves the problems of identifying the basic laws of interaction between the organism and chemical compounds with toxicity, their toxicokinetics and toxicodynamics, biotransformation, toxicometry and selective toxicity. Clinical toxicology. A section of toxicology that studies human diseases arising from the toxic effects of chemical compounds in order to scientifically substantiate methods of diagnosis, prevention and therapy of poisoning. Preventive toxicology. A section of toxicology that studies ways of preventing the potential danger of toxic substances on living organisms and ecosystems. Environmental toxicology. A branch of science that studies the effects of toxic substances and toxic transformation products of other substances on ecosystems and their cycling in the biosphere, their influence on animal and human organisms, especially in food chains. Forensic toxicology. A branch of toxicology that studies poisoning for homicide, suicide, or resulting from industrial and domestic accidents. Military toxicology. A branch of science concerned with the study of poisoning agents intended or used in warfare. Its main task is the development of means and methods of human defense against chemical warfare agents (CWA). Experimental toxicology. A section of toxicology that studies the principles of practical assessment of the toxicity of compounds and ways to reduce it. Epidemiological methods of toxicant research, regulation and risk assessment of poisoning, first aid for poisoning and treatment of intoxication. Professional training of toxicologists, professional development and staffing for sustainable development of toxicology.
