The residency is aimed at training a specialist in the field of neonatology with professional competencies necessary to provide medical care to newborns, including premature babies, in the maternity ward, neonatal pathology and neonatal intensive care units, as well as in the framework of subsequent stage follow-up. The program is focused on the formation of knowledge and practical skills in the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of diseases and pathological conditions characteristic of the early neonatal period, including life-threatening conditions requiring intensive care and high-tech care. Key areas of training include: Prevention of perinatal pathology: participation in antenatal fetal protection, management of pregnant women at high risk of complications, preparation for admission of children with signs of intrauterine hypoxia, infections, congenital malformations. Diagnosis and observation: clinical assessment of the newborn, interpretation of laboratory and instrumental data, monitoring of vital functions using specialized equipment. Intensive care: providing emergency care for asphyxia, respiratory failure, infectious and inflammatory complications, metabolic and hemodynamic disorders, resuscitation and maintenance of homeostasis. Supportive and stage therapy: organization and implementation of nursing of premature babies, management of newborns with intrauterine developmental delay, low and extremely low birth weight. Multidisciplinary interaction: working as part of a neonatal team with obstetricians, intensive care specialists, geneticists, pediatricians, counseling parents on care, feeding and further development of the child.
