31.08.14 Pediatric Oncology

The residency is aimed at training a specialist in pediatric oncology with professional knowledge and skills necessary to provide medical care to children with hematologic and oncologic diseases, as well as to carry out measures for their prevention, diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation. The program includes mastering modern methods of clinical, laboratory and instrumental diagnostics, chemotherapy, targeted and immunotherapy, as well as approaches to the complex management of patients in inpatient and outpatient care. Key areas of training include: Early diagnosis: recognizing oncohematologic diseases at early stages, interpreting symptoms, and performing initial diagnostic measures, including biopsies, cytologic and molecular studies. Treatment: development and implementation of individualized therapy regimens, including chemotherapy, immunotherapy, supportive care; management of patients within multidisciplinary protocols. Palliative care and rehabilitation: provision of symptomatic care, organization of stage rehabilitation, management of children with chronic and advanced cancer, work with patient's families. Psychosocial support: participation in teams providing emotional and psychological support to children and their families during treatment and follow-up.
