31.08.04 Transfusiology
Training as a transfusiologist is a pathway to a unique medical specialty, at the intersection of clinical medicine, immunology, cell therapy and biotechnology. Transfusiology is the science of blood and its components, where every milliliter can save a life. The residency program is focused on the formation of experts capable of providing highly qualified medical care in the profile of “transfusiology” and participate in the advanced directions of modern medicine. In the course of training, physicians master: Preparation, processing and storage of donor blood and its components - plasma, red blood cells, platelets and other biomaterials; Clinical use of blood and its components - providing transfusions in surgical operations, oncohematologic diseases, trauma, childbirth and other conditions; Hemocorrection methods - therapeutic plasmapheresis, cascade filtration, immunosorption and other methods of blood purification; Photohemotherapy - modern approaches to treatment using laser and ultraviolet irradiation of blood; Work with hematopoietic stem cells and bone marrow - their procurement, cryopreservation and application in transplantation medicine; Organizational and management skills - creating safe conditions when working with blood, quality control, record keeping, compliance with biological and information security standards. A graduate will be able to work in large multidisciplinary centers and blood services, as well as in clinics with transplantation and oncohematology profile. This is a profession for those who understand that behind a drop of blood is a human life, behind every procedure is science and precision.
